Before joining a meeting

1
Pick your pre-join screen

When Teams shows your camera preview before a call, look for the Background filters panel on the right side.

2
Add your downloaded background

Scroll the panel, click Add new, and choose the PNG or JPG you downloaded from MeetBG. It will stay saved for every future call.

During a meeting

3
Open Effects & avatars

In the call toolbar, click More → Effects and avatars → Backgrounds. Select a saved background or add a new one — no need to leave the call.

💡 Tip: sit facing a light source and avoid wearing the same color as your background — Teams edge detection gets noticeably cleaner.

On mobile (iOS & Android)

Tap More → Backgrounds during a video call, then pick an image from your phone. Custom uploads work on Teams mobile since v2.1 — make sure your app is updated.

FAQ

Are these backgrounds really free for work calls?

Yes — every MeetBG background is free for personal and commercial use, including client calls and interviews. No attribution required.

Why is my custom background not showing?

Teams only supports JPG/PNG under 30MB. Also check that your Teams app is updated — older versions hide the Add new button.

Where are backgrounds stored on my computer?

Windows: %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Teams\Backgrounds\Uploads. Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/Backgrounds/Uploads.
